Ivan Marovic is an organizer, software developer, and social innovator from Belgrade, Serbia. He currently serves as President of the International Center on Nonviolent Conflict (ICNC) in Washington, D.C.
Ivan was one of the leaders of Otpor, a youth movement that played a crucial role in the downfall of Serbian strongman Slobodan Milosevic in 2000. Since then, he has advised numerous pro-democracy movements worldwide and become one of the leading educators in the field of strategic nonviolent conflict.
Over the past two decades, Ivan has designed and led learning programs on civil resistance and movement building, supporting the development of organizations such as Rhize and the African Coaching Network. He co-created two educational video games that teach activists about nonviolent resistance: A Force More Powerful (2006) and People Power (2010).
He is also the author of The Path of Most Resistance: A Step-by-Step Guide to Planning Nonviolent Campaigns (2018), a practical manual for activists around the globe.
