Tareke Ortiz

Tareke Ortiz is a renowned Mexican artist born in Mexico City. He studied Composition and Research Techniques in Ethnomusicology at the National School of Music (UNAM), as well as theater and live music in New York, and vocal pedagogy in England and France.

Ortiz has built a multifaceted career as a composer, singer, and artistic director of festivals such as Cumbre Tajín. He also served as Director of the National System of Art Creators, the National Art and Literature Award, and programs like Jóvenes Creadores and Artes en Lenguas Indígenas Nacionales.

His work spans cabaret, experimental opera, film music, and popular music promotion. He has collaborated with renowned directors and artists from over twenty countries and received awards for his film and theater compositions.
Beyond his artistic career, Ortiz is a committed advocate for human rights and cultural diversity, leading projects that promote sexual and social inclusion. He has taught at UNAM, Trinity College, the Università di Viterbo (Italy), and as guest lecturer at MIT, Santiniketan University (India), and the Seoul Center of the Arts (South Korea).
